Revolution of the Earth and the Seasons in the Northern Hemisphere. Created by Michael J. Pidwirny, Ph.D., Department of Geography, Okanagan University College.
Phases of the Moon This Java Applet was created by Chris Dolan, an Astronomy graduate student at the University of Wisconsin. Click on the "Point of View" button and click "both". Then click "animate". On the right you will see a graphic of the moon as seen from the Earth. On the left is the Sun, Earth and Moon. The Moon orbits the Earth, at each position of the moon in its orbit, the image on the right is what you would see FROM earth.
Solar Eclipse This animation was created by Dr. Steven Daunt from the University of Tennessee. If you were standing on the Earth where the umbra of the moon's shadow passed over you and were looking toward the sun, you would see a total solar eclipse!
Lunar Eclipse This animation was created by Dr. Steven Daunt from the University of Tennessee. If you looked at the moon as the umbra of Earth's shadow passed over the moon, you would see a total eclipse of the moon!
THE LINKS BELOW ARE FOR THE MORE ADVENTUROUS AMONG US! They are the web pages that contain the animations above. WARNING! They are university web sites and as such, the content is pretty advanced. They have GREAT graphics though.
